When the Pen Stops

When the Pen Stops

At Mass, we were just reminded by St. Paul not just to be hearers of God's word but to be doers as well. This message is crucial when we consider our daily prayer routines—both in meditative prayer and in our nightly examinations.

St. Paul emphasizes the importance of action following knowledge.

Consider this simple example: it's one thing to acknowledge God's blessings, but it's another to actively thank Him for them. Similarly, recognizing our shortcomings is only the first step; the next is seeking forgiveness and making a firm resolution to improve.

So, what should come after reading Scripture or reflecting on our day? Action. It's about making resolutions and applying the insights we gain to enact positive changes in our lives.

This principle is especially relevant when using the Examination Journal. It's not solely about writing down thoughts; it's about engaging in a deeper conversation with God. You don't need a journal to talk to God, but it can be a helpful tool. The key is not to stop when the pen stops. Let your written words be a springboard to deeper prayer, attentive listening, and resolute action to transform your life.
